Expanding West Towson’s Green Canopy

While we’re compiling the full results of the Neighborhood Pulse Survey, we one thing stands out. Many neighbors crave more tree coverage. Jon Gorman, a West Towson Neighborhood Association Board member and Chair of the Greening Committee, has been working hard to share his progress in responding to residents' desire for more trees. This has not been a solo effort of course, but he has been central in bringing together local government, Blue Water Baltimore volunteers, and neighborhood residents on this project; specifically, our tree steward Kirsten Hoffman, Carol Newill, and Louise Teubner-Rhodes.

Recognizing the importance of green spaces and the numerous benefits that trees provide, the Board eagerly supports the enhancement of our neighborhood's environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to not only beautify our community but also improve air quality, provide shade, and create habitats for local wildlife. By collaborating with residents, local organizations, and the park authorities, the board is determined to make a positive impact on our neighborhood's landscape and preserve its unique ecosystem for future generations to enjoy.

This timing also matches the rehabbing of the Multiuse courts and shows how we can shape the future of West Towson and our community spaces together.
